(A few cameras and lenses.(view Original Image 8MB) This lens was owned by my father, a professional photographer, who bought it in the 1960s and used it until he retired thirty years later, at which time he passed it on to me. On digital sensors, chromatic abberation can be apparent on the periphery. Built into the lens are three filters - skylight for colour, yellow and orange for black and white - and the possiblity of using gelatine filters behind the rear lens element. ![]() Vignetting is negligible - in fact I had to add a little to this image! With 11 elements in 7 groups, it boasts a more sophisticated design than its predecessor, the 4-element 18mm f:11 fish-eye Takumar. Sharpness and contrast are good, even at open aperture. Actually a Super Takumar (there is also a later Super-Multi-Coated version), it's a rather splendid lens offering a coverage of 180° across the diagonal. ![]() Here in a view taken with an M-42 fish-eye lens, the 17mm f:4 fish-eye Takumar. However in side streets like Naglergasse, one can still come across family-run businesses with a traditional flair, like Klomfar's bathroom accessories shop. In the last thirty years, Vienna's inner city shopping precinct has changed dramatically, with old firms closing down for ever, and the premises being taken over by big international brand-names. ![]()
